Negotiations were held between the Rector of TSMU Corresponding Member of Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, professor Kovalchuk L.Y. and director of medical and microbiological laboratory GEMEINSCHAFTSLABOR, Cottbus (Germany)

In December 18, 2010 Rector of Ternopil State Medical University Prof. Kovalchuk L.Y. and Head of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics Prof. Korda M.M. visited the city Cottbus (Germany). The purpose of the visit was the acquaintance with the medical and microbiological laboratory GEMEINSCHAFTSLABOR (http://www.labor-cottbus.de) and holding negotiations with the head of the laboratory Dr. P. Thorausch and Dr. W.Tsitrin regarding the cooperation in the field of laboratory diagnostics and possible assistance in the establishment of a modern scientific laboratory in the Ternopil State Medical University.

GEMEINSCHAFTSLABOR Laboratory is an independent organization that provides diagnostics for most clinics and hospitals of the Federal Land Brandenburg. The laboratory is equipped with modern equipment worth millions of euros and covers an area of 3500 m². Annual revenue of laboratory is half billion euros.

During negotiations rector prof. L.Y. Kovalchuk and Dr. P. Thorausch agreed to hold a scientific workshop in Ternopil Medical University on the current issues of clinical and laboratory diagnostics in January 2011. The leaders and laboratory staff of GEMEINSCHAFTSLABOR will come to Ternopil to report the recent achievements in clinical and laboratory diagnostics as well as the world trends in this area. Also the preliminary agreement to help in creating a modern scientific laboratory in Ternopil State Medical University has been reached.
