Visit of CEO of Lincoln University (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Dr. Amiya Bhaumik
to I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University
The negotiations between the rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University Corr.-Member of NAMS of Ukraine, Prof. Kovalchuk L.Ya. and CEO of Lincoln University (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) Dr. Amiya Bhaumik have been held in November 29, 2011 The cooperation between Ternopil Medical University and the University of Lincoln has been continuing for over a year. In February, 2011 an agreement between universities has been signed. According to this agreement the Lincoln University will offer the health program and will recruit students, citizens of Malaysia, into this program. Some of these students will study in the Ternopil Medical University, the process of learning will be monitored by the Medical Council of Malaysia and Ministry of Education of Malaysia. It is expected that upon graduation students will receive a double diploma – from Ternopil State Medical University and from Lincoln University. Some students will study in Malaysia and lecturers of Ternopil Medical University will be invited to lecture and conduct classes at Lincoln University.
During the meeting, Dr. Amiya Bhaumik reported to the rector of Ternopil State Medical University Prof. Kovalchuk L.Ya. about the process of curriculum approvement in the government of Malaysia. In particular, today the program has received approval of the Medical Council of Malaysia and Qualification Accreditation Committee and pending in the Ministry of Education of Malaysia. Dr. Bhaumik expressed his confidence that soon all the necessary documents will be approved at the highest level and starting of September 2012 Lincoln University will be able to recruit first-year students into medical program. Prof. Kovalchuk L.Ya. confirmed the interest of Ternopil State Medical University in collaboration with Lincoln University and said that the studying of Malaysian students in the Ternopil State Medical University will be mutually beneficial and rewarding for both universities and for Ukraine.
