This year the exhibition was visited by employees of the I.Y. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University prof. Korda M.M. and assist. prof. Kovalchuk A.A. This visit was at the invitation of managing director of company «Humeca» Wim Buursen (Netherlands).

«Humeca» - one of the most famous world companies that specializes in the manufacture of surgical equipment to treat burn wounds, including cutting tools for the transplantation of skin. The scientists and engineers of «Humeca» in cooperation with the "Red Cross" burn center in the Netherlands improved the MEEK-WALL technology and developed a corresponding apparatus for skin transplantation. Today, technology MEEK-WALL is considered as classics of modern surgical treatment of deep skin defects. This original technology of skin transplantation is used widely in major burn centers in the world and taught at universities in Europe and the USA. This approach is an alternative to the cultivation of autoceratinocytes or is used in combination with transplantation of autoceratinocytes.

On the basis of I.Y. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University and Municipal Hospital Department of burn injury under the supervision of prof. Bihunyak V.V. the assistant professor Kovalchuk A.A., PhD developed the electrodermatome, sterile cutting head of which is disposable (Patent UA32875/Kovalchuk A.O.). This minimizes the risk of contamination of patients with dangerous infections, including AIDS, hepatitis B and C, and others. Dermatome is also equipped with an autonomous motor with batteries. Motor container is sealed and can withstand chemical sterilization. Today this dermatome is used in burn centers of Ukraine.
