Studying
The department conducts educational activities in the disciplines "Fundamentals of occupational safety and life safety", "Emergency Medicine", "Extreme Medicine", the only in Ukraine, the clinical course of "emergency and urgent care" and to prepare students for the program for reserve officers.

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 1, 2012 ¹ 48 "On approval of the military training of students in higher education program for reserve officers" confirmed that the Ternopil State Medical University named after I. Kovalchuk remains committed to preparing students for the program for reserve officers. This resolution was provided to prepare students and other medical universities within scope of the license.

The volume of training program for reserve officers at the medical faculty of 80 people on dental - 40 persons at pharmacy - 10 people.

Employees of the Department in cooperation with experts of the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy published four books and three books with the stamp of the Central Methodological Cabinet Health of Ukraine. Author of these publications are members of the department Yuri Balaban, Igor Gerasim, Arsen Hudyma, Basil Demyanenko, Victor Lototsky, Igor Mysula, Konstantin Pashko, Nikolai Yaroshenko.

Thanks to fruitful activity in the training of emergency medical care and disaster medicine decision of the Academic Council in 2010 on educational material the department of disaster medicine and military medicine was created Department of Emergency and Disaster Medicine in the course of military training. Clinical base year "Emergency and urgent medical care" was Ternopil ambulance station. The course is headed candidate. honey. Science RM Pacman.

At the heart of the educational process at the department is practically oriented learning. It plays a key role in the capture of the second year students of first aid and IV year students of emergency and urgent care. In both cases studied technology assistance that meet the rate of the European Council resuscitation BLS + AED (Basic reanimation + automatic defibrillation) and ALS (Skilled resuscitation measures).

The primary equipment has educational rooms dummies and dummy for testing practical skills. Currently, both courses feature up to 60%.
Conducting workshops is in the form of play scenarios - simulated real situations where sudden delay occurs circulation or other emergency conditions. Thus some students act as victims, others - medical rescue.

Scripting is the rule of "four steps": Step 1. Your instructor in real-time procedures for the emergency in the affected in emergency conditions. Step 2. Repeat show with a comment the teacher, which explains the rules of the procedure. Step 3. Repeat show with commentary of one of the students. Step 4. Show Repeat student practical exercises for students of all groups. With this technology training each study group should be equipped with sufficient number of healthy disinfected training facilities. The importance given to maintenance of mnemonic training. In a classroom set of algorithms posters of emergency conditions to be considered for employment. Algorithm is obligatory primary and secondary survey - as a base for diagnosis and treatment of any urgent situation. Considerable attention is given to working up scenarios of student communication skills, teamwork, psychological preparation. An additional task of the teacher in these circumstances is to create positive motivation to perform tasks. Each scenario concludes his analysis thus combines the performance of practical training and seminar discussion of each specific clinical situation.

Currently, each task includes a list of practical equipment, techniques and scenarios to play. All teachers teaching in the Department of the seminar was learning this form of work with students. As shown, these activities students enjoy, they acquire practical skills in situations close to reality. Bonus for the successful implementation of practical work is access to work in the visiting team SHMD. Participation in each call to be oral report and analysis. So the knowledge and skills in practice is updating.

Of great importance in ensuring quality of the educational process is given training faculty. In November 2008 the Department held a one-day course Immediate Life Support - Emergency resuscitation measures), and in 2010 - Advanced Life Support - Qualified events organized by the Polish Resuscitation Council resuscitation. The course instructors worked newest standard resuscitation and advanced technology educational activities, successfully passed the exam and received international certificates. Principles of teaching have been introduced to date emergency and urgent care.

All teachers of the department passed the specialization of medical emergency conditions. This Department of Personnel Policy, Education and Science Ministry of Health of Ukraine allowed the Ternopil Medical University organize specialized courses in the specialty "Medical emergency conditions." Order from 23.08.2011 ¹ 532, the department was included in the list of supporting departments of medical (pharmaceutical) education level IV accreditation of emergency and urgent care, and the same subject was included in the new curriculum entrants in 2009.

Ahead of the Department of difficult work of developing and implementing a new curriculum on emergency and urgent care in the context of Ukraine in a system of emergency medical care. This mastering of new educational technologies, development of standard equipment of the department, training scenarios for each practice, the organization of Advanced Training of teachers of other universities for teaching emergency and urgent care. In the future - a university station SHMD where students under the guidance of the teacher will be able to travel around the clock to the challenges to the inhabitants of Ternopil to update knowledge and skills obtained in the department.
Significant changes to improve programs to students of reserve officers. The department develops new premises in the NOC "Red Cranberry" that will allow most workshops to refocus on learning in the field. The department receives bus transportation for students, rolling out new classrooms, sanitary places military equipment in a specially constructed hangar, which will study under different weather conditions and facilitate the deepening of learning and practical skills.
Research
Since 2007 the department continued scientific research in the study of pathogenic mechanisms of severe trauma. In 2007, the Department received a state targeted funding to implement the theme "Pathogenic effects of polytrauma on condition of internal organs and developing ways of correcting the system" (supervisor prof. Hudyma AA). The main achievement of this work was the creation of models of polytrauma, one of which was included in the register of innovations in 2010, the definition of prognostic criteria for the death of injured animals on the basis of integrated reohrammes, proving systemic effects of xenografts in serious injury, accompanied by mechanical and thermal (frostbite, burn ) lesions of the skin. As a result of research published 10 journal articles, 14 abstracts in the periodic scientific publications, received three patents, made more than 20 implementations of the learning process and activities of research laboratories at the University of medical education in Ukraine.

At the same time in 2007 in HII complex planned initiative issue, which brings together the Department of Pathologic Physiology, emergency medical and medical informatics, "Medical Information Research Experimental pathology of internal organs in various functional conditions and its correction" (supervisor prof. A. A. Hudyma). As a result, its performance was found influence honadectomy and Hormonal replacement therapy in the damaged heart adrenaline female rats, the state of nitric oxide in rats of both sexes, biochemical changes in animals with acute hepatitis by means of action of tetrahlormetan, dination Bureau enteral oxygenation, the effectiveness of peritoneal dialysis and continuous oxygen oxygenation in the treatment of experimental pancreatic necrosis, the resolution of issues of informatization of educational process, production and analysis of biological signals. As a result of topics published over 40 articles in professional journals, more than 50 theses in materials science forum, received 5 patents, completed over 50 implementations in educational and scientific activities.

Since 2010, the department again received the state targeted funding to implement the theme "Experimental investigation of apoptosis in severe combined trauma" (supervisor prof. Hudyma AA). At the same time planned a comprehensive initiative the subject of the Institute "Medical laws and information flow model of pathological processes in various functional conditions and their correction" that has allowed many young scientists to initiate and successfully execute the candidate and doctoral dissertations.
We should also focus on research activities Associate Professor, Honoured inventor of Ukraine Candidate of Medical Sciences VV Demyanenko.

During the last 5 years he has been managing the first phase of state budgetary research on "Development of technologies for production of crushed substrate canned pig skin, its experimental and clinical studies for treatment immunodepended pathology in adults and children." In the course of this phase research of physical-chemical, biochemical and biophysical characteristics of crushed substrate based on canned pig skin were carried out, in particular have been established entirely new patterns of immunobiological activity of a new product. The results constituted the basis of successful completion of all these steps specified state budgetary research. V. Demyanenko took part in the initiative to search research study of new diseases that previously attributed to the Morgelons’ disease. Materials research were released at the conferences and congresses, including international, are presented in 10 publications, three patents reserved.
