Department of Philosophy and Social
Studies

The
Department of Philosophy and Social Studies (the Department of Marxism-Leninism at that time) was founded
in August, 1957.
From 1958 till 1976 the head of the Department of Marxism-Leninism was PhD F. F. Chernyavsky.
From 1976 till 1984 the
head of the Department of Marxism-Leninism was Candidate of Historical
Sciences, Ass. Professor M. V. Trafyak.
From 1984 till 1991 Department of Marxism-Leninism was headed by PhD, Ass. Professor V. P. Shkvarets.
From 1991 till 1998 the head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies was Candidate of Philisophic Sciences, Ass. Professor M. K. Kubaievsky.
From 1998 till 1999 the
head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies was Candidate of Historical
Sciences, Ass. Professor V. S. Sulko.
From 1999 till 2000 the head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies was Candidate of Historical
Sciences, Ass.
Professor V. F. Chaykovsky.
From 2000 till 2001 the
head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies was Professor, PhD I. P. Mozhovy.
From 2001 till 2003-the head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies was Candidate of Historical
Sciences, Ass. Professor V. Z. Ukhach.
From 2003 till 2004 the head of the Department of Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies and
History of Medicine was Candidate of Medical Sciences, Ass. Professor O. N. Lytvynova.
In 2005 the Departments of Foreign
Languages and Philosophy and Ukrainian Studies were joined to the Department of Foreign Languages and Social Studies, which was headed by Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, Ass.
Professor H. B. Palasyuk.
In 2006 the Department of Medical
Informatics with the course of Physics and Special Equipment was joined with Department of
Foreign Languages and
Social Studies which was headed by PhD, Professor V. P. Martsenyuk.
In March 2009 on the basis of Department of
Informatics, Foreign Languages and Social Studies the Department of Medical
Informatics with Physics and the Department of Philosophy, Social Studies
and Foreign Languages were founded, the
latter being headed by PhD, Ass. Professor A. M. Pryshlyak.
In June 2011, on the
basis of the Department of Philosophy, Social Studies and Foreign Languages, the Department of Philosophy and Social Studies was founded,
and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Ass. Professor V. Yo. Kulchytskyy
was appointed the responsible for the position of the head of the
department.

Spheres of Scientific Interests
of the Teaching Staff

|
The department
staff works on the complex scientific theme “Methods of socio-cultural competence formation of the students of higher medical institutions”. The staff
takes an active part in Ukrainian and international theoretical, practical
and methodological conferences and symposia. Four instructors are working
on their theses for the degree of candidate of sciences.

Teaching Process at the Department
|
|
The teaching staff of the Department of Philosophy and Social Studies works on the improvement of educational and methodological work. Theoretical and practical classes are
performed for the students of Medical Faculty, Pharmaceutical Faculty, Faculty of Dentistry and Institute of Nursing.
Methodological instructions for practical
classes, themes of lectures
and practical classes are constantly being modernized and improved. All the
necessary conditions for students’ training are provided at the department. For the effective cooperation between teachers and students,
the instructors of the department use the Internet and Intranet system, particularly
the web-site which contains all the necessary information.

Educative Work at the Department

Each year the instructors of the Department together with the
tutor groups perform thematic lectures, evening parties, organize visits to
Ternopil Drama Theatre, excursions.

The following manuals were published at the department: “Fundamentals of Pedagogics”, “History of foreign school and pedagogics (in analytical
tables)”, foundamentals of the course “History of pedagogics (for students
of a correspondence school): materials for lectures and practical classes”,
“The Fundamentals of Philosophy. Tutorial”, text-book in “Religion Studies” for
foreign students and a number
of articles on educational-methodical theme.
