Educational process includes mastering in methods of physical examination of patients, semiotics of internal diseases as well as ethiology, pathogenesis,labdoratory and instrumental methods of examinaion. There are some peculiarities in teaching internal diseases propedeutics at the department. They are: absence of skills of communication with patients for students, who enter our department. Next to bases of therapeutic knowledge and practical skills in examination of a patient teachers teach the students deotology, ability to communicate both with patients and also with colleagues, middle medical personnel, workers of a hospital. Eucational work on a department is directed on forming of highly skilled specialist which has not only the detailed theoretical base but also owns practical skills and ability l to apply them in practice at sufficient qualifying level. It all enables to form skills of examination of a patient for a future doctor, in fact students of medical faculty study this a very important subject during III year of education. At the department students study a very important in practical activity of a doctor section of work – care of patients and bases of nursing practice. Students master bases of nursing knowledge under teacher”s control and at the help of experienced middle medical workers of the hospital. Students of medical and stomatological faculties, using possibilities of clinical base of hospital N 2, meet with work functional diagnostics rooms, where they master the electrocardiography method of research as one of most essential in dignostics of internal organs diseases. Besides students meet with such modern methods of diagnostics as fibrogastroskopy, ultrasound diagnostics, magnito-nuclear tomography. Studies on the department are conducted three languages:
Ukrainian, Russian, English. The subject “Internal medicine
Propedeutics and Care of Patients” is taught to the 2nd- and 3rd- year
students of medical faculty and also to the 2nd-year students of dentist
faculty. Besides 3rd and 4th year students of dentist faculty study “Internal
Diseases”. The teaching staff delivers lectures in Clinical Examination and
Diagnosis of Therapeutic Diseases.
On practical classes
An important place in activity of the department occupies scientifical research. The collective of the department fruitfully works above the study of problems of combined pathology of digestive system organs and affection of other organs and systems. Works, carried out with collective members, touch to problems of gastroenterology, rheumatology, pulmonology, cardiology. Basic attention is paid to the aspects of diagnostics and treatment of combined pathology of internal organs and viral hepatitis because their actuality grows in connection with worsening of epidemiological situation all over the world. The results of scientific researches are inculcated in the terapetic departments of Ternopil city and its region, as it is recorded in 11 acts of introduction, 2 informative letters, 4 patents on an invention, numerous publications in medical juournals and theses. Under the direction of prof. S.M. Andreichyn there were defended 4 candidate dissertations. Recently assistant of the department I.I. Ganberger has got the diploma of candidate of medical sciences after successful protecting of her candidate dissertation devoted to problems of combined pathology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and osteoartrosis o the asis of virl hepatitis. Now they are planned 2 candidate as well as 1 doctor dissertations. Annually the workers of the department are conducted inter-regional scientific-practial conferences.
Medical work is conducted on the base of therapeutic separations N1 and N 2 of Ternopil City Communal Hospital N 2. . Annually the department personnel consults about 2500 patients, organizes scientific-practical and clinico-pathanatomic conferences. They participate in activity of Control-Expert Comissopn of City Department of Helth Protection, in Doctor Consulting Comission Medical University, Ukrainian Medical Society, some of tem are the members of Ukrainian society of Internists. More than 100 new methods of diagnosis and treatment have been elaborated and introduced into practice. The professor and associate professors of the department carry out the weekly planned rounds and conduct consultation receptions in therapeutical, surgical, gynaecological and ostetrical departments f the hospital as well as in intensive care unit. After professor’s rounds diagnostically difficult cases are discussed with the doctors of practical health protection. Besides, members of the department hold their duties in the hospital, carry out urgent duties at home, examine patients in policlinics. Associate professor N.Z.Yarema renders a consultatin help as a rheumatologist to patients both in permanent establishment and in the policlinics of a hospital. The teachers of the department often discuss questions of pathological stated diagnosticstogether with the doctors of functional diagnostics unit. The workers of department participate in work of Comission on questions of health protection reformation in Ternopil Region, created at active voice of Ternopil State Medical Univeritsity. The members of the department render consultating and teatment help to the rural population of Ternopil region in accrued centers of primary medical-sanitary help during their departures in villages Large Govyliv, Terebovlya region and Uvisla, Gusyatin region, and also in Denisiv geriatrics department of Kosova region. Scientific and medical work of department workers performances were presented on meetings of Ternopil regional society of internists, on scientifical-practical, clinical conferences and symposiums both in Ukraine, and abroad.
Following normative documents and orders of administration of SHEI «Horbachevsky’s Ternopil State Medical University», the collective of the department is concentrated in thir work and plans on continuous perfect in teaching quality, assist development of creative capabilities of students. To work above introduction of new progressive study technologies and addition to the material and technical base of the department (test tasks and rel-life situations, materials for independent students’ work with video- and audioaccompaniment, including Internet resourses, as well as educational tables, charts, pictures). To begin and continue the prosecution of creation of new textbook on Internal Diseases Propedeutics in Ukrainian and English languages. To take part in educational-methodical conferences and other forums. To publish in journal «Medical Education» scientific revisions from the improvement of teaching of Internal Diseases Propedeutics. To continue implementation of fragment of interdepartmental research. The results will be published in various scientific journals, congresses, conferences, and inculcated into medical practice. To involve to the scientific work talented students, realizing their opportunities in the student scientific circle. To continue training of scientific personnel (doctors and candidates of medical sciences). To take an active part in the supervision of patients in the rounds and consultations, as well as exit settlements. Organize scientific, practical and pathnatomiclal conferences. To follow clinical protocols and to make proposals on their improvement. To implement the practice of health research results as their own and borrowed. |
